Re: Indonesia Java Robusta

How dark do you want them? 2nd crack? How much Voltage do you have available? I assume they are quite large? This will mean you have to drop down to 90g maybe 85g if they are huge. Then you have the issue of being large and low altitude which can take a lot of heat / power and high airflow to get th...

Re: Light

Try using the AllPurpose washed profile in the other thread. With 236V and 95g batch size you should have enough room to play around with letting first crack finish, then waiting 10sec, 15sec, 20sec etc stopping the roast manually and finding your sweet spot. Depending on the green you are using the...

Re: Steve's Current Profiles

Yeah...sometimes things get saved different when im using for various things. Brazil Cerrado at 4.8 should be good, like just on cusp of 2nd crack without cracking. Any darker "might" start picking up some ashy notes with soft Brazils. Even so, its only minor and can usually be mitigated v...

Steve's Current Profiles 100g MAX

As requested a separate thread with the profiles I am currently using and notes. Will update here only from now on if things change. PLEASE BE AWARE that I am on 240V power = a higher MAX available Watts which means can run higher RPM fan profiles. I have fine tuned these 3 profiles to death and the...

Re: Comment roast logs - 5 different beans using Steve's 9min profile

Thanks Steve. If I was going to try something to help smooth the bigger swings in ROR mid way through, what would you recommend starting with? Btw, I tried to message you a while ago to ask what of your profiles you recommend now? I noticed that you've got some that you now say are not so good, and...

Re: Comment roast logs - 5 different beans using Steve's 9min profile

I continue to find that most important for sweet well developed roasts is that the black power profile remains relatively smooth, no big crashes, flicks or prolonged periods of flattening / decline. Agreed. In other words, jagged temperature curves are not necessarily a problem, but big swings in t...

Re: Comment roast logs - 5 different beans using Steve's 9min profile

Just my 2 cents. Ive played around fairly extensively with sticking 1.5mm and 3mm sheathed K type probes into the roast chamber situated on the side opposite the hot air inlet = where the black creosote build up is most. Logging these in Artisan with no smoothing was somewhat interesting yet unevent...

A much better reasonably paced light roast.
May need 1450W available power to complete unless beans are washed before hand using this method.

Re: Colombia Melky Chevaz - What works for you?

Hi Beanz, looks like you ran out of power where it flatlined at the end / dropped off profile. That 9 min profile was still in development, it was too quick at the end, hence too much power needed to keep on profile. These are the current profiles I am using which are working well and staying under ...
