Roasting Honey Process

Does anyone have much experience roasting Honey processed beans? I've tried 2 now (Costa Rica Pilas, and Dominican Republic Cibao). Only a few roasts so far, but I've noticed with both that 1st Crack is happening later than typical washed or naturals. The Costa Rica is around 215deg, with different ...

Re: Expected life of the Nano?

Thanks for the info - and for sharing your experience Angela.
So far I'm up to just over 530 roasts and no issues. Sometimes (not often!) I do 12 roasts in a day when roasting for a few friends with no issues.

So hopefully many roasts to come : )

Wireless Flash Drives - Don't bother...

I thought I'd share my experience of trying a 'wireless flash drive' with the Nano. this is the one I bought: https://www.digidirect.com.au/sandisk-wireless-flash-drive-16gb-sdws2-016g-q57?gclid=CjwKCAiAxeX_BRASEiwAc1QdkdhYt_sjDzsR9iJ2KCKc9Q8V3DiQhc2TQk5HbxG_iAip9shMM-a13hoCAecQAvD_BwE I had never h...

Re: Steve's Ultimate Profiles 100g - Constantly Declining Fan Profile (Fan Cal 0.91)

I just had an aeropress with the Colombian roasted last night. Can't say much about aroma as we've got oil based paint drying in the house : \ I'm not good with correlating what I taste with official labels, but I'd say on the positive it was bright and fruity, but on the negative it was probably un...

Re: Steve's Ultimate Profiles 100g - Constantly Declining Fan Profile (Fan Cal 0.91)

I had similar experience. Tried POWER with Colombian Excelsor.
Roasted to 2.3 for about 21% DEV

I tried another batch with the fan calibration down to 0.91 (from 0.94), and up from 100g to 110g, just to see if that helped, but the take off was even greater!

Expected life of the Nano?

Hi Chris / Wayne, Just wondering if you have any idea how many roasts you'd expect a typical Nano 7 to do before something failed? Obviously things can go wrong at any time, but wondering if there's any testing been done or educated guesses?? Because it's so easy to roast, I roast for a few friends ...

Natural vs washed high altitude

Can anyone offer advice regarding roasting natural vs washed high altitude coffee such as Ethiopian? My understanding is that you don’t want to go too hard too quick with naturals, but then generally you do want to go hard with the heat early on for high altitude. So what do you do for natural proce...

Re: Steve's Current Profiles 100g MAX

Thanks for sharing Steve. Btw, what is your fan calibration setting? I was experimenting with D-Roast the other night (Damien's profile I think, but similar fan speeds as yours). I noticed if I set my fan calibration to .90, it easily ran D-roast right up to 4.3. When i had it at 0.94 it maxed out a...

Re: Shapeshifter

Thanks for sharing the shapeshifter profile. I've tried it on Colombia Excelso (as suggested!). I've also tried it on Australian Dimbulah - still trying to figure out what kind of profile to use on those (rather expensive!) beans. Here's the log results... log0183 (shapeshifter - Columbia Excelsor)....
