Re: Maillard Profiles Phase 3

Hi Again In reponse to questions. I quickly gauge if the roast log is quickly synching to the profile using the approximation of 150 degrees between 90 seconds and 2 minutes. 150 is no better than any other,,figure ,, but in my mind what happens below the 2 minute mark is almost irrelevant ( similar...

Re: Maillard Profiles Phase 3

Hi aaronbeach, I might ask you revisit your assertions around drying time ( best window of time). BUT I would need to see your log files. For me I would almost discard your definition of drying time ( 20 degrees to 170 degrees) and replace it with: For your consideration only ......../ please feel f...

In my instance it has coincided with the boost upgrade and activation ( with glass chaff catcher) I tried with and without catcher ( turbo prop whistle still there but can vary i...

Re: Maillard % Profiles

Hi aaronbeach As previously mentioned ... you certainly have eagerly gone down the rabbit hole. If I may ...... I think committing to a FC at 6 minutes irregardless of roast level or style is a bit of a false pillar to base your testing on. Some of my good roasts ( ie taste good to me - brewed at my...

Re: Uneven color and uncracked beans

Hi utku yzc A couple of things (My opinions and offerings.... so not gospel) The default MASL profiles are generally aimed for a more medium roast level as default. I have found the further away from the recommended level ( ie 3.2 to 2.4) , there are more chances of your roast going off profile. For...

Re: Uneven color and uncracked beans

A little late here but will add my comment just in case.

I have found Power reduction through the development phase is going to result in a muted roast.

Sometimes even flat lining the power curve ( often due to power supply in the house itself) can spoil the roast

Re: Chocbomb

hi feralflyfisher I don't get on here that often - so missed your post. If you want set and forget ... probably a 1500-2000m REST profile ( if you have 7 -9 days to wait) or The same profile in RTD ( can drink well in as little as a day - but can be a bit muted compared with the big choc bombs The b...

Re: Colombian Volcan Galeras Supremo

Late to the thread ... apologies This bean , i find works well in mid to dark roasts using one of Steves MD profiles ...i use a tweaked version (preheat adjustment for my conditions) of MD2, but have used MD 3 as well. I use it standalone or add a base bean of brazil or Indian Elephant Hills,,,, it ...
