Re: Raost
Interesting thanks. Intutively the 1.6-1.7 roast depth seems too light for espresso for my tastes....but....I perpetually forget that the roast depth score is not measured on anything like a ratio scale (i.e. 2.0 is not twice as dark as 1.0). I have a Cremina it's not a problem extracting at low pre...

Re: Raost
Welcome. Looks interesting. How are you brewing your coffee? Filter / pourover?

Re: Steve's Ultimate Profiles 100g - Constantly Declining Fan Profile (Fan Cal 0.91)
No worries, just reporting my findings as I go...here is some more fodder putting into action what I wrote about earlier. Aim was to keep a max roast time very close to 8 min, while hitting the temperatures closer to 2nd crack start. Trying to preserve more of the sweet vibrancy in the coffee which...

Re: New feature requested: button lock
It had never occurred to me that I might accidentally hit one of the buttons when emptying the machine. I had to go and try it out to work out exactly how I do it....and it seems I go nowhere near the buttons. Not sure that turning the machine off is a great idea if you are going to do another roast...

Re: Cleaning...
No worries. Wasn't a roaring fire or anything, but the chaff was definitely alight. IIRC the chaff extinguished almost immediately after removing the collector from the unit. The chaff was also very well contained in the collector.

Re: Cleaning...
FWIW, my roaster is almost new (purchased mid-December 2020) and I had a chaff fire a week or so ago. The bean (Rwanda Nyungwe) is a chaff monster, however I was a little surprised by the fire (100g dose, perfectly empty chaff collector before the roast, 1500-2000 REST 3.4 profile). I just switched ...

Re: Logged Colour Change?
Chris mentioned size of tube here ; https://kaffelogic.com/community/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=124#p799 with that size just a simple replacement with existing tube, but when chefs accumulate there, it will be obstacle. Damian dis quite bit of trial on that thread. I'm pretty good at fending chefs off.

Re: Logged Colour Change?
Didn't realise that Otago were getting so entreprenurial as to retail glass tubing
Spent a bit of time there a few years back.....good bandwidth in the flat.
I might investigate a similar approach.

Re: Logged Colour Change?
Thanks Ben. That makes sense. I think I'd need to also do my roasting at a less elevated location (currently on choppping board on top of gas burner stove) to enable me to look down on the top.

Logged Colour Change?
Hello, So my grinder arrived late last week and I've had a bit of a play with it, and worked out most of the basics. One thing seems odd to me. There's a field in the roast log template for 'Logged Colour Change', just above 'Logged First Crack'. I know how to record first crack in the log, but how ...
