Fan Calibration with Latest Firmware
Having just installed the latest firmware I have had an issue where the roast terminated with a "Thermal Dip" error which I haven't seen before, and the beans didn't seem to be agitating sufficiently. I decided to recalibrate the fan and ended up increasing the calibration from 1.01 to 1.1...

Re: Profile Overshoot Early in Roast
Thanks for that, I’m getting good results, it’s just that some beans exhibit this characteristic whereas others follow the curve more closely in the early stages, I guess because they are less exothermic. I’ll try varying the the preheat times out of interest, but if it doesn’t affect the taste I wi...

Profile Overshoot Early in Roast
I'm finding some beans tend to overshoot the profile curve early in the roast and I am wondering if it is possible to correct for this. Currently I am doing an Indonesian Blue Bianca with preheat set to 1200 and it still logs below the curve at the start but crosses the curve at about 29s and then o...

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
I’ve tried to join the Discord group but haven’t had much success with it, however there is quite a bit of discussion on the Kaffelogic Facebook groups.

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
If you are using the standard 1500-2000m profile I would say your preheat is a bit too high and would suggest dropping it to 1100W. Also there is a Zone Boost about the time it leaves the curve, so I would try deleting that and see how you go. Just a matter of fine tuning. I generally use a level ar...

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
Thanks for that. My conclusion from all this is that it doesn't matter much if the roast drops below the profile at the start of the roast, so it is probably better to drop the preheat so it doesn't overshoot the curve too much after a minute or so and is following the curve well before we get to fi...

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
I can reduce the overshoot by reducing the preheat level, but it is the very start of the roast that I was concerned about where the logged temperature is below the profile and reducing the preheat puts it even further below, so what I was getting at was if I increase the preheat to keep it up to th...

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
I’ve tried increasing the preheat and removing the Zone1 Boost, but it still logs below the profile at the start of the roast and then overshoots even further after it crosses the profile curve which was the reason I asked about the use of negative boost or a Corner this early in the roast. The coff...

Re: Overshooting Profile Curve
log0272.pdf Here is the log of the first roast using the 1200-1500 Rest profile with the original Zone boosts saved as a .pdf. Preheat is 1200. What I am wondering is if I increase preheat to follow the start of the profile more closely, can I then put in negative boost or a corner that early in th...

Overshooting Profile Curve
I have been roasting an Indonesian Blue Bianca starting with the 1200-1500 Rest profile, however the roast temp is below the profile for the first 30sec and then overshoots and doesn't get back until about 2min 20sec. Removing the Zone 1 boost doesn't really help and I have tried putting in a corner...
