Re: Failed experimental profiles

Obviously its very hard to check the colour changes during a roast on Nano which I have tried several times and also made some assumptions based on the temperature readings around first crack and how they translate to my drum roaster temps, with the Nano being 10 - 14 degrees C higher. You can take...

Re: Failed experimental profiles

I think this may devolve down to whether you are 'glass half empty or glass half full' with your outlook on life. Learning what to avoid is quite a negative pastime compared to learning what to chase after. Also I prefer methods that mean I have less to do; for me, at the moment, success is coming l...

120 Roasts and Gunge

There is a build-up of sticky residue. There is no protection over the circuit boards; is that going to matter?

Re: Differences in Rate of Rise curve

... As it stands there is a form of gain scheduling, but no actual self-tuning. Future information cannot in principle be used for self-tuning. There was me thinking you were doing some spectacular maths using the rate of change of the rate of rise. I'm deflated. So in computing terms the profile x...

To say I am surprised is an understatement. Where is all the look-ahead the controller is supposedly doing in the PID then?

Re: Differences in Rate of Rise curve

I would guess it's something to do with the PD controller. To function properly P(I)D controllers need tuning to the system within which they are used. Tuning (in our systems) involves adjusting the feedback quantities for proportional error and the differential (rate of change) of error. There is a...

Re: 3.1.1 Linux feedback

Re 3.2.0 I previously posted I'm using Ubuntu 19.04. I noticed today that on login there is a choice of screen compositor to use for the session; Wayland or Ubuntu. I had been using Wayland forever since initial installation. Out of nothing more than idle curiosity I switched. I am happy to report t...

Re: Roast won't start with USB drive inserted.

Have you tried a different USB drive? Or take the one you have and format to FAT32 - not just wipe - but re-format.

Amusing to see ".... this board prevents them from being uploaded "File too large".

Chris had previously solved that one on the old server.
