Liz's Christmas message
For those that missed it in the nether regions of the World, here is a transcript of the Christmas Message sent out by Her Royal Majesty - Queen Elizabeth II. "Phillip and I have both had a bumpy ride this year. It all started badly when Phillip, driving to meet his fancy piece, collided with a...

Re: Light
Thanks for another one Steve. I must be starting s l o w this morning; it must have taken me a whole 5 minutes to realise the meaning of "Power 0.4 to 1.0 = approx 40 sec to 2:11 development time from first crack start depending on bean." Level 0.4 to 1.0 - silly me!

Re: Firestarter
Rob Hoos .... made ... changes to the profile changing ....[the] fan. This is fascinating. Looking at the area under the Firestarter fan curve compared to the standard fan there is (my estimate) perhaps 20% more air in the system. The received wisdom from your writings, Chris, is that the air flow ...

Re: Could someone check this profile for me please….
Thanks Steve. I think what you are saying is don't bother looking at Artisan charts from other roasters because they are not directly transferable to air flow roasting without knowing the exact equivalence. I'd sort of come to that disappointing conclusion already.

saw this and thought of your tasting notes re- carbon. Michael McIntyre of Catalyst Coffee Consulting .... “Not enough air movement and the batch will not have good cup clarity. In that case, the coffee will likely have a carbon quality from not effectively removing the exhaust.” https://www.perfect...

Re: Could someone check this profile for me please….
Mark I have made some changes to your profile based on my interpretation of the converted temps you posted earlier. I've been asking for a while how a drum roaster profile converts to an air roast. I tried assuming a fixed offset based of the fisrt crack difference but that didn't seem to work over...

Excuse me guys but isn't the obvious solution to install a cooker hood in the kitchen over your hob? Then you can extract everything that makes a pong when hot to the outside.

Re: Hint for removing inner chimney sleeve needed
I wonder if its time for a modification? I too find the rigmarole of removal of the tube a pain and had thought of two small holes drilled diametrically opposed at the top of the aluminium tube, then having a wire, (I had thought of a solid copper conductor from 15A cable), to make a loop handle, re...

Re: HELP Voltage / kW / ROR all over the place
When I expanded or zoomed in to your profile - the blue line showed showed sudden direction changes at the times specified. It may, of course be an artifact of the graphing software, but I hadn't noticed it before on my graphs. If you only created the profile in KLPMS then it is probably an artifact...
