New core profiles - why?

Kaffelogic, saw that you released new core profiles (KL Washed, KL Natural, etc.). Couple of questions for you: 1. What was the general thinking that went behind them? 2. I see the fan profile is more aggressive than the previous core profiles, why? 3. KL Natural seems like an aggressive profile but...

Tips and Lessons Learned for Roasting on KL

Sharing some of my lessons learned and tips for roasting on my KL in hopes that you can learn from my mistakes and also contribute your learnings. Thanks! Things that matter a lot ● The roast profile is not that important, good beans are. I spent a lot of time early on trying to find and create the ...

Fan profiling: how do you do it?

Hi all, wondering how to best do fan profiling. I understand too little fan and you get scorching. Too much and you get erratic looking roasts/RoR. Is the idea to have a consistent movement, similar movement when calibrating, all throughout and hence why fan profiles tend to dip over time as bean we...

Re: Firestarter

I keep coming back to this profile for my light roasted espresso beans. I've tried so many different profiles (Raost v5, Adaptive, Roast, base profiles) but find this to be a great starting profile. I understand that if you want light and fruity flavors, shorter time is better but still find this to...

How do you pick your roast profile?

How do you pick your profile and then adjust after? Because I'm roasting for myself primarily, I'm not able to roast so many variations to do blind cupping and have enough data to make good conclusions. Some of my current working hypothesis: Denser beans can benefit from a faster profile if you lik...
