Re: Raost
I’m developing my process for working with a new bean, based on the Raost and Adaptive Raost profiles. The background is that my wife bought a large collection of bean types in one pound batches, so I’m getting few attempts at nailing any one type. Given that I have pounds, I adjusted the two profil...

Re: Initial Temp Too High
I’ll be using 113.4g, which is 1/4 pound, so I don’t end up with an unroastable remainder, given that green beans are typically sold in pound increments in the US.
To be safe, I can weigh my batch and divide it up evenly before roasting.

Re: Initial Temp Too High
That was a Guatemalan bean. I used that up and tried a different Guatemalan bean and it was completely different! I’m guessing that it was a bit old. It was dense but really soaked up heat with the temp all over the place! I kept lowering the curve, but the key seemed to be lowering the overall temp...

Re: Initial Temp Too High
Great minds.
I'm just now preparing for my next roast, lowered the preheat, and I got the same recommendation. I'll give it a try.

Re: First impression: terrible buttons
I actually like the buttons, because they require little force to operate. If the buttons required more force, the unit might move around, or I might have to hold the machine with my other hand. The buttons are black on black, but they protrude, they are easily found by touch. They offer good tactil...

Initial Temp Too High
I received my roaster in the US less than a week ago, and so far, I’m thrilled with the product. My question has to do with the temperature going higher than the profile in the first minute or so. Should I reduce the preheat power to solve this, is there a different solution, or is this normal? The ...
