Re: Modified Firestarter

Actually I've found a modified soft brew profile is giving very good results. The mod is essentially to drop the rate of rise right down...
That and keeping the roasted beans in an airtight glass container. Seems to work well for most blends.

Re: Log not being recorded

Hi Chris,

I've roasted ~8 batches since updating the firmware and all have logged successfully. That's the longest continuous run of logs I've had so far, so I think you've cracked it.

Re: I'm after a darker roast

Re the achieving ~25% development time; I'd wondered about that so had considered making a profile with a steeper rate of rise.

I've also read that the RoR shouldn't go below zero as that stalls the roast...

Re: Log not being recorded

Thanks Chris. My last batch two days ago didn't log but the batch I roasted just now did.

I'll try this next time.

Software and firmware release dates

Hi Chris,

Could you please tell me what dates you released the most recent roaster firmware and profile studio software? If these look to be newer than the software and firmware I'm using, I'll update.

cheers

Re: Log not being recorded

For what it's worth my last six or so roasts have logged successfully with no dud logs in between. I'm not sure what's changed; these were all using the same profile (my modified Ninja).

Re: Modified Firestarter

Thanks Chris. The results are very consistent thanks to the real-time control.

I've been working my way down the darkness scale, with some improvement. I also have a different blend of green beans to try next!

Re: Log not being recorded

Hi Chris,
Tried a new Toshiba flash drive today, formatted FAT32 (I didn't reformat it). As with the others, it loaded profiles but didn't record a log. This not recording seems to be random as I've had roughly every second roast create a log, no matter which flash drive I use.
cheers, Simon

Modified Firestarter

Hi all, just posting this here looking for some feedback. I tried the original Firestarter and had fairly good results with it. I changed the fan speeds to 16100 and 15600 to achieve quick cool down without blowing beans into the chaff collector. I thought I'd see if I could do better by adding boos...

Re: Log not being recorded

I've tried two more flash drives; one didn't log and the other did. That's one out of one roast, not statistically valid, so stay tuned. Admittedly these weren't brand name flash drives, they were given to me with supplier catalogues on them and I reformatted them. So if I'm still having logging iss...
