Thermal Runaway on Boost

#3080

Post by franciousdt »

FoundI had some trouble with boost not moving the beans
After upgrading to the boost kit with the new chaff chamber I ran into some thermal runaway problems.
the first roast a Ethiopia using the 1500m-2000m RDT profile at L2.5 and 90g this went fine.

second roast was a Kenyan, 1500m-2000m RDT at L3.0 and weight was 180.6g beans and ended in a thermal runaway. Beans where a mix of almost green burned

third roast was a Kenyan, 1500m-2000m RDT at L3.0 and weight was 100g with this time I paid more attention FC was a minute in and beans where not moving properly so I stopped it early after another minute. It had already burned the beans at the bottom.

I then experimented with a cheap robusta on the robusta profile and found I need to set the weight 20g higher then the beans I put in to get them to move properly.

I just roasted a Kenyan, 1500m-2000m RDT at L3.0 with weight 120g and machine set to 140g and it seemed to work out fine.

Any recommendation on how to adjust the profiles or a universal setting I can adjust would be greatly appreciated. I'm not really technically inclined so go easy on me.
