Beans sticking to side, causing failed batches

#3600

Post by djr »

I know the recommendation is to not clean the chamber but mine has caramelization on the side. Beans can stick to that and ruin a batch. The more it happens the more easily it now happens. Basically one side of the chamber is sticky. I can no longer roast at 200g. 120g is the max to prevent sticking.

I was thinking maybe I could run several very small batches through it and maybe it'll carbonize?

This is not something we have experienced before. Our suggestion is to do a sacrificial roast of 80g using the 'Super dark' profile on 5.9. This should bake it on.

Has this worked?
I am new to roasting and am starting to see some dark sticky build up on one side of the roast chamber
