As noted on another thread, the Firestarter profile has a really high starting wattage requirement, so I dialled this right back for my feeble european electricity. And also pulled the fan-speed right back. It has been doing pretty well.

Tonight I've also taken a first run at a Monsooned Malabar. Never had this before, but the beans are left out in the monsoon (as opposed to washed or natural process). They are very yellow, bigger, and quite light, so probably explains why it overshot temperature wise at the start. Quite an uneven roast

Good to see you are getting good results with this profile.
As for the monsooned beans, did you weigh them when you loaded? They are a lot less dense. With a load of 120g it is usually possible to roast them without customising the profile and still avoiding the fast start. The uneven roast will be characteristic of the beans.

I did weigh them. The measure was overflowing, and it was about 96g. I wasn't sure to put more weight in or not, so I left it at that. Will see how they go tomorrow and continue experimenting. I've been bracketing each bean in this profile, but it seems we are mostly happy with about 3.4, and will then do a comparison roast and taste at that point
