Re: Recommended Profile for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?
Thanks nrdlnd, Have downloaded your modded version for the sidamo to try. I assume my Yirg is washed - it looks washed. I roast for both espresso and pour over, but less fussy with espresso (mostly drink strong flatwhites). And thanks for the feedback kidleethal. Did you just use the original Raost...

Re: Recommended Profile for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?
Just tried a batch of Yirgacheffe roasted with Raost V4 @ 1.5, using paper V60 and metal filter Aeropress.
Definitely has the most clarity and fruitiness of all the profiles I've tried so far.

Re: Recommended Profile for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?
After letting it rest for a few more days, am definitely getting a lot more pleasant acidity and fruitiness coming through with the Filter Origin L1.2 roast I did. It's a clear improvement over the default altitude profiles. You're right it does lack a bit of body, but works very well for the cloth ...

Re: Recommended Profile for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?
Ran some Yirgacheffe with Filter Origin.
It's definitely better than the 1500-2000m profile, but still doesn't bring out the fruit notes out to the degree I'd expect.

Re: Recommended Profile for Ethiopian Yirgacheffe?
I also recently picked up some Yirgacheffe. Have only done the one roast with the 1500-2000m stock profile but it tasted a bit flat to how I used to roast it with a heat gun.
I'm going to give it a go with Filter Origin next.

Re: Filter-Origin Profile
Thanks for the great profile.
I used it to roast some Ethiopian Yirgacheffe Biloya a few days ago and have been brewing it with a cloth pourover filter.
Great fruity flavours, sweetness and juiciness in the cup!

Re: Bizarre roaster behaviour
I just wanted to put some closure on this by saying what fantastic customer service I experienced from Kaffelogic with resolving this issue: - Saturday: Emailed support about the issue - Monday: Wayne emailed me back first thing in the morning diagnosing the issue and organising repair. - Tuesday: J...

Re: Bizarre roaster behaviour
This is a fault. The thermal fuse (which is part of the element unit) has, to use a not-too-technical term, gone on the blink. It is faulty, and instead of just burning out as it should in an overheating situation it is going off and back on again in a normal heating situation. You can see this hap...

Re: Bizarre roaster behaviour
Thanks for the insight.
Be great to know what's causing the problem! I'll have to see what the KL guys say. I also sent them a support email.
