I'm regularly finding a bean stuck on the upturned probe tip, at least once a week.

Twice I've had difficulty removing the bean, but usually just lifting it in the direction the wire is pointing works.

Any hints on how to safely remove a well stuck bean?

Many thanks, Justine

Hey Justine I had this happen ONCE early on. Chris suggested gently pulling it off in the direction of the probe as you have done, the probe itself is really very sturdy and more susceptible to metal fatigue from bending.

My bean was stuck on there really good! No amount of pulling or wiggling would make it come out.
VERY carefully I used a tiny pair of needle nose pliers to grab the bean right at the tip furthest from the probe and gently squeeze it until the bean shattered. Roasted coffee beans especially ones that have been stuck like that one are very brittle and it does not take much to shatter them.

Cheers Steve, since writing my post I had it happen again, but with a bit of wiggling it came off. I'll bear your tip in mind for next time.

Many thanks, Justine

Thats good Justine, much better for it to come off that way than having to stick tools into the roasting chamber and risk damage to the probe.

Confirming our recommended method:
1. Pull the bean gently but firmly straight off the probe, without wiggling it back and forth. If this doesn't work
2. Use long nosed pliers to reach into the chamber and crush the bean.
