Re: Beta profile logs
Here are some logs for the GTTT profiles. Only roasted 2020-06-11, so not done any sampling yet, will be doing that from the weekend onwards...
GTTT 1500-2000
This was with Columbian Supremo beans, 100g. Colour change between 160-170degC.
GTTT 1200-1500
This was with Nicaraguan beans of unknown parentage, 100g. Colour change between 160-170degC.

Re: Beta profile logs
Hi All,
Here's some logs from recent roasts, comparing how particular beans respond to a few of the beta profiles, with a few comparisons to other shared profiles.
Peru Kontiki
(for comparison)
Columbian Excelso
Kenya Lena AA
* comment on the beta profiles with the Kenya: even at 110g the beans weren't moving, and I figured they were going to burn. For both roasts I kept manually moving the beans with a pen every now and then to get them moving. Not sure if this could have possibly messed with temp readings and thus control system...
Guatemala Antigua
Some general comments/questions about the profiles...
- The cool down cycle seems to go for a VERY long time! Is something going wrong??
- Is there a reason you don't start with higher fan speeds? Some of the roasts (i.e. kenyan above, as well as a 120g Costa Rica on 900-1200 GTT) didn't move enough at the start
- I've had to stop all the beta profile roasts around 2.0 (2.5 at most!), to keep it under 27% development. Do you guys intend to make versions designed for slightly darker roasts that will also have ~25% development?
Thanks!

Re: Beta profile logs
Hi Nutta,
I used your Yirg RTD roast log to create a tweaked version (screenshot and log below). I think it helped smooth things out from 1st C onwards.
Changes were essentially:
increased starting fan speed.
added strong short boost (15sec @ 4) towards end of ROR drop coming into 1st Crack
weakened 3rd boost (3 => 2) but extended it for longer
weakened 1st boost (3 => 2)
recommended level 2.2 to give 25% DTR
Re: Beta profile logs
All 3 had good strong first cracks.
I missed or didn't get to 2nd crack with the decaf on either GTTT or RTD which I usually do
120g decaf (sugar process)
Went well with milk on days 1, 2 and 3
120g Costa Rica
Good as a latte on days 1, 2 and 3
120g decaf (sugar process)
Stood up well to milk on days 2 and 3 (thought it was RTD so drank early!)
