How do you determine the correct speed of bean movement during fan preview when you are roasting a much smaller batch of beans (50 or 60 grams)? The roaster is initially calibrated for 120 grams, but the resulting fan speed will cause a 50 gram batch to agitate very differently than a 120 gram batch. It whips a 50 gram dose pretty vigorously, when comparing the circulating speed with a 120 gram batch agitation. Should we change the fan preview speed to a much slower speed, or let it run at the roaster & Boost’s default setting?
I’m assuming the Boost software I have in place adjusts agitation speed for each dose size accordingly, so is there no need for me to worry about that initial vigorous bean movement? Does Boost sort that out automatically for each batch size?
