Re: low voltage/roast stall

I read something about European efforts of harmonization of power supplies across the European Union the other day. Lots of mainland Europe uses 220V whilst we in the UK use 240V. Eurocrats decided to harmonize at a nominal 230V; that way no change, for anyone, would be required because all supplies...

Re: Difficult roast

.... What do you do with your "less than satisfactory" roasts. I don't like binning beans even though my roasts are only 100gm batches. .... Sam, my earlier reply got lost in the kerfuffle of ISP change. To briefly re-cap; I keep everything and blend poor quality roasts with other left-ov...

Re: Difficult roast

Some general observations from the tinkering of a novice roaster: pre-heat recommendation on the Nano, I think, is over-estimated by the algorithm. I get closer initial curve following by dropping pre-heat by 10 to 20% of the recommended value - when I remember. I am unsure if the initial minute or ...

Re: Studio 3.2

Supporting alog as well as csv is not actually a very big step to take as far as software development goes, but it is not necessarily a high priority ... as you have found a profile can be hand entered with comparatively little pain. Agree. In fact it is such a low priority I wouldn't bother. Unles...

Re: Studio 3.2

Want to say congrats for good steady improvement to software. Agreed. And Chris had us thinking this release would take an age. For me it has come at a timely moment. I have a fresh delivery of Yirgacheffe, profile ideas gleaned from Artisan users and time on my hands! As an aside; Artisan, (profil...

Re: Humidity

In the meantime it may be best to roast to a slightly lower level on high humidity days if you want closer repeatability of a roast? I can see atmospheric pressure will have a bearing too and that is something else to untangle - any one else want to have a go - my brain hurts? This thought exercise...

Re: Humidity

The paper you refer to talks about isothermic comparisons. However, with a roast control system the systems will not be isothermic. The roast control system should adjust the air temperature to give the desired bean surface temperature. But that is the rub. Exactly that. The bean surface temperatur...

Re: Humidity

I bought two 1kg bags of those beans at the same time and yes log #91, ten days later, was from the second bag but I'm unconvinced that's the reason. A further 5Kg is coming! I'm finding the less-than-stellar Yirgacheffe blend nicely with some Colombian. I actually achieved a coffee taste reminiscen...
