A Message from the Devil's Advocacy Office
Oh I dunno; Kaffelogic Profile Management Studio sort of trips off the tongue, doesn't it? I can say it in under 3 seconds ..... now, after all that practice. And just think of all those printed advertising flyers they'd need to change. Kaffe Logic Nano 7: why not Nano Studio? Nano seems an 'in-word...

Re: On days like these...
Well, as far as coffee roasting goes, air pressure and air density are really much the same thing; one is just an analogue of the other if other factors remain constant. Air density affects heat transfer and air pressure affects bean cracking points. But air pressure (and temperature and relative hu...

Yes, unsure about the probe. It has a temperature readout so there must be a probe - in the inlet airflow I imagine.

Interesting take on the functionality of hot air roasting https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Hot-Air-Coffee-Bean-Roasting-Machine_62047617927.html
Exhaust air is a problem for all designs so far.
Has rudimentary process control (human). Price for 1 is $520 US ~ 790 $NZ

Re: On days like these...
Thanks Chris, interesting analysis. I pointed out cooling simply to illustrate how obvious it is air density affects heat transfer. The first crack, for me, is the moment when the fight within the bean to burst against the constraint of the external air pressure is won. Higher air pressure means the...

(apologies Matt Monro) Today in the UK we have unusually high atmospheric pressure. In my region presently it is 1049 mb I have just completed a roast to exactly the same settings as a roast from a couple of weeks ago when air pressure was much lower. Same beans batch; same everything else. Screensh...

I teased Chris mercilessly, on this forum, about this long ago.It was obviously needed then as it is now. Will he have an epiphany?

Re: IKAWA import ?
May I ask how you got access to the profiles? I did have a quick look months ago, but it seemed a machine needed to be registered before accessing profiles was allowed. I word of caution; despite my initial enthusiasm I've not found translating from one machine to another very useful. Mind you all t...

Re: Brazil medium espresso roast
Steve, thanks for the useful feedback. The Santos beans were a substitute, made by my supplier for Mogiana beans, and I don't know too much about them. The beans are not large and their density is a good medium at 0.69g/cm3. I've got some Cerrado too that I've roasted on your profile and they do not...

Re: Brazil medium espresso roast
Steve, I tried this on a Brazil Santos. I've not had much luck with this bean roasting around the upper 2 level. So I was keen to try this lower level profile. I roasted at 1.8; (still hedging my bets you'll note!). I was surprised by the roasted bean colour; it was darker than I was expecting. From...
